Direct Services & In-Home Parent Education
This is a countywide voluntary child abuse prevention program. Referrals come from the Department of Social Services to help families who may be struggling to meet their family’s basic needs, maintain a stable, safe and healthy environment for their children, and/or who may need parenting education.

Parent Connection of San Luis Obispo County
Parent Connection of San Luis Obispo County offers a variety of services, including: a web-based family resource center (sloparents.org) with a current list of parenting classes and parenting support services in SLO County, an information line to help parents find appropriate classes in their area (543-3700), and a Parent Connection Helpline (904-1411), with a Parent Coach who can answer parenting questions and provide ongoing support. Parent Connection’s services are designed to make parenting less stressful and more rewarding, while promoting positive parenting techniques and building a family’s protective factors. Parent Connection of San Luis Obispo County understands that all families have strengths and all families need support.
Parents Helping Parents of San Luis Obispo, California
Parents Helping Parents (PHP) is a family resource center providing support, resources, referrals, and information to families of children with special needs. PHP serves families in the San Luis Obispo (SLO) area of the Central Coast of California.
Parent Participation Program of San Luis Coastal Unified School District
Parenting is a joy and a challenge. Come with your baby, toddler or preschooler to an adult and child activity class, or find support in a class for parents only! All adults in a parenting role, mom, dad, grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend or nannies are welcome.
Parent Voices is a partnership of parents throughout California. A Statewide Organizer works out of the Network, and local chapters are housed at child care resource and referral agencies (CCR&R’s). Parent Voices combines leadership development, advocacy, and community organizing in its efforts to increase funding, improve quality, and provide better access to child care.
Paso Robles Youth Development and Enrichment Program
This program serves K-5 students before and/or after school at each elementary school.The program offers California Department of Education, Child Development Division subsidized placements for free or reduced child care to qualifying families. Families who do not qualify for state funded care are also eligible to enroll at cost. PRYDE also accepts EOC/CAPSLO funded families.
POPS Positive Opportunities for Parenting Success
The goal of this program is to encourage and enhance the father-child relationship, increase the quality of the father’s relationship with the mother, encourage existing community programs to be more inclusive of fathers, as well as promote the development of new community programs for fathers, change attitudes in our community about the importance of father involvement in a child’s development and increase father’s support systems, while decreasing life stresses.
Raising a Reader
This unique turnkey program is a nationally recognized, award winning, early childhood literacy program for low income families. The program’s local success is reflected in the substantial increase in classroom sites, community participation, and more importantly, tangible results.
S.A.F.E. Services Affirming Family Empowerment – South County
S.AF.E. is a community based, school-linked program designed to bring services to children and families throughout San Luis Obispo County. The goal of S.AF.E. is to focus on family strengths and work with families to keep children, Safe, Healthy, At Home, In School, and Out of Trouble.
